Keeping in Touch
Keeping in touch with family and friends is
very important. U.K. mobiles can be topped up over here or you can use phone boxes, but it can work out expensive.
SPANISH
NUMBER
Getting a Spanish SIM card couldn’t be easier, there are many shops that will sell you a SIM for 10 to 15 euro and will be topped up in many shops and newsagents.
There are two problems:
- If you want to keep your British phone, you need to get it unlocked so it will accept the new Spanish SIM card, this may cost a bit of money depending on the type of phone but there are many electronic shops that can unlock phones.
- You also need an N.I.E number to purchase a Spanish SIM card.
There are many internet cafe's with varying rate for an hour. Also some of the cafe's let you set up a "bono". This means that you set up a username, a password and top the account up with 5 to 10 hours at a time but with a reduced rate.
If you have brought a computer with you, internet can be connected through wireless which people let you use. There are also many computer shops that you can buy computers and will repair them if there is a problem.
